New Smyrna Beach

Top Reasons to Visit New Smyrna Beach

Nestled on the Atlantic Coast, just south of Daytona Beach, FL, New Smyrna Beach is quite the hidden gem.

Being a New Jersey native, I think it's kind of obvious why you should visit Florida but some of you are tough and need convincing. So we'll start with one of my all-time favorite places, New Smyrna Beach.

Nestled on the Atlantic Coast, just south of Daytona Beach, FL, New Smyrna Beach is quite the hidden gem.  Well known for surfing, it's art and sandy shoreline, New Smyrna Beach definitely has a more laid back, relaxing vibe compared to other Florida destinations.  It really is the perfect vacationing spot if you're looking to keep it mellow and quiet.

Hitting up a local restaurant or two in New Smyrna beach is a MUST!

The Breakers, located right on the beach, has THE BEST BURGERS in all the land.  Just go.  I can't explain it.  Just go.

Yellow Dog Eats in New Smyrna is known for its pulled pork sandwich.  Flippin' AWESOME!

Norwoods Treehouse Bar is such a cool little spot!  It's actually a treehouse!

I love New Smyrna Beach mainly because of the drive on beaches.  For $20, you can drive on the beach until about sunset or 7pm May until approximately October 31.  This is super convenient if you absolutely dread dragging things to and from the beach...you can just pop open your trunk and set up shop wherever you park.  Although not always ideal if you have little ones, it is a pretty cool thing to be able to do!

Flagler Ave, in my opinion, is the epicenter of New Smyrna Beach.  That beach is going from sun up to sun down!

If you're not a fan of the drive on beach option, 27th Ave. Park is probably the next best choice!  They have restrooms, showers and a playground!

Sugar Mill Ruins is a 17-acre historic site contains the ruins of the coquina sugar factory that was raided during a war between the Seminole Indians and the United States.  It's a pretty awesome place and its FREE to visit!

New Smyrna Speedway is a great little change of pace from the mellow beach life.  Tickets start at $15 for general admission and they're always totally worth it!
